As if we needed another reason to head to Mall of the Emirates this weekend to indulge in a bit (ok, a lot) of retail therapy, today Apple Pay has launched across the UAE and it’s a total game changer.
Transforming the way you purchase things, the quick, easy and secure new method allows you to make payments in stores, in apps and on the web with your Apple phone or watch. This means no more awkwardly having to re-enter your pin when you punched it in wrong, no more having to clean the chip if the card gets declined, and no more rummaging around your bag to find your purse whilst there is an ever-growing line of people behind you, also waiting to pay.
Apple Pay will support UAE credit and debit cards from MasterCard and Visa with many of the region’s leading banks, including Emirates NBD, Mashreq, HSBC, RakBank, Standard Chartered and Emirates Islamic, all accepting the new method.
Virgin Megastore, Caffe Nero, Marks & Spenser, Sharaf DG, Homecenter and, of course, Apple are amongst the tens of thousands of shops , cafes, restaurants and supermarkets that are now accepting Apple Pay.
Available on iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and later, iPads and Apple Watch users, the payment gateway only works from iOS11 and later, so you better get updating!
