The convergence of art and technology is a phenomenon that has been employed by many an artist and starting this week, will be available to enthusiasts in Dubai at the Apple Store, Mall of the Emirates. In line with the commencement of Art Dubai and the launch of Apple’s new campaign, ‘Start Something New’, the workshops will give art aficionados the opportunity to get their creative juices flowing.
Workshops such as Sketch, Draw & Paint with iPad and Shoot More Artistic Photos with iPhone will teach people, regardless of their artistic level, how to employ everyday objects of utility to enhance artistic innovation. Attendees will have the chance to acquaint themselves with sketching, drawing and painting in the ‘Sketch, Draw & Paint with iPad’ workshop and gain insight into the world of time lapse, macro lenses and long exposure in the ‘Shoot More Artistic Photos with iPhone’ workshop.

The workshops are a part of Apple’s new initiative to spark artistic discourse amongst the UAE community and are running complimentary to the redecoration of their regional stores by 11 international artists. The artists, whose technologically infused artwork can be found online at Apple.com and in-store, are intended to inspire customers to create their own projects using everyday items such as a phone or tablet. Sketch, Draw, and Paint with iPad - Tuesday, January 19
Bring in an iPad and pencil for this all levels workshop designed for seasoned illustrators and beginners alike. Providing a step-by-step how-to on sketching, drawing and painting, attendees can build a gallery of artwork and put their new skills to work to the test whilst working on their own project.
Shoot More Artistic Photos with iPhone - Thursday, January 21 and Thursday, January 28
Carry your iPhone for this hands-on workshop which promises an in-depth how-to into shooting more creative photos and trying out various accessories —like long exposure for light trails and Time-lapse for progression. Create a work of art, find your style, or simply improve your skills by learning how to artistically adjust and edit your photos. — Tanika D'Souza
