Swarovski joined forces with Parisian couturier Serkan Cura to create the custom piece

One look at his work and it’s not hard to see why Swarovski has entrusted their precious crystals to the hands of Parisian couturier Serkan Cura for the Victoria’s Secret show for the past three years. “My style is glamorous, sexy and sensual,” says Serkan; words which are synonymous with the ever-beautiful Martha Hunt who wore this year’s piece down the catwalk during the ‘Fireworks’ segment, which marked her first appearance as an official Angel for the lingerie giant.

The full look weighed almost 9kg alone

“This look was a challenge because of all of the techniques,” Serkan confessed. And no wonder, considering it featured a 10 kilogram handcrafted corset, which was adorned with over 90,000 crystal beads, stones and pendants in various shades of gold, red, emerald and blue. Additionally, the fringe of the corset gleamed with red and yellow crystal beads set in mini pave or marguerite shapes, as well as brilliant fire opal crystals. And, as no Angel is complete without wings, Serkan created an amazing pair made from over 20,000 golden and iridescent crystals and 1,200 LED lights that weighed almost nine kilograms.
