The Art of Collaboration, introduced by Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director, Tomas Maier, is an ongoing project which invites visual artists each season to work on an advertising campaign for the Italian fashion house. Viviane Sassen joins Bottega Veneta’s prestigious roster of photographers for the A/W16 campaign. Tomas Maier describes the inspiration behind the project,“Viviane’s photography has an inescapable enigmatic quality to it, a refinement and acute independence." He adds,
The A/W16 collection features a rich colour palette of green hues, royal blue, red and black set against the stark, white landscape of Grande Cretto – a land art conceived by the post-war Italian artist, Alberto Burri, in Sicily. Measuring almost 80,000 square metres, the site commemorates the ruins of Gibellina, an Italian village demolished by an earthquake in 1968, with monumental blocks of white concrete embedded with cracks symbolically placed in an artistic celebration of life.
