Commencing last September, Recycle Your Blues, a campaign initiated by Gap, gave customers the opportunity to receive a new pair of 1969 jeans upon disposing of their old denim. The campaign, which started in Dubai and Kuwait, received widespread acclaim with over 3,300 units of used denim being donated and consequently recycled. Carrying on into the New Year, GAP aims to maintain their environmentally conscious agenda by encouraging people to recycle and Do More with their denim through a series of art-and-craft inspired events. Inviting 6 UAE and Kuwaiti based artists to create individual and unique artworks from the Recycle Your Blues campaign, Gap aims to revolutionize what it means to be both environment and fashion conscious. Revealing their work at the much anticipated reopening of The Dubai Mall store, Dina Saadi, Khalid Mezaina, Noosh Like Sploosh, Doghouse Collective, Yousef Saleh and Mohammad Al Mohanna are joining forces to meet the campaign’s objectives in an innovative manner. Adding another element of social responsibility, Gap is running a Do More campaign to raise awareness for local charity, Al Noor. As a part of this campaign, Gap along with Al Noor Training Centre for Persons with Disability, will donate one hour of the Gap teams’ time for every person entering the store on the evening of the art exhibition.
