Experimenter Gallery, founded in 2009 by Priyanka and Prateek Raja, is behind the Curators' Hub (ECH) that annually brings together 10 seminal curators and arts professionals from across the globe. “Experimenter Curators’ Hub has been a deeply enriching journey for us, one that has grown manifold since its inception in 2011,” said the founders in a statement. “Dialogue and debate are crucial in the process of exhibition making, and the Hub acts as an intimate yet important platform for the same. It gives one the rare opportunity to retreat into the curators’ mind, and in a way make them think about their own process and throw it open for new dialogues and possibilities.”

Supporting discourse and the evolution of curatorial practice and exhibition making, the invited speakers present their individual philosophies by focusing on personal experience and recent examples, which are recorded, archived and made freely accessible online. Noted curator Hans Ulrich Obrist, who participated in 2016, remarked, “The ECH brings people together from a range of artistic backgrounds, locations and experiences for a captivating debate on the latest trends and ideas informing exhibitions worldwide. It’s a unique chance to share your own work with people contributing to the arts, and an important event for South Asia’s cultural calendar."

This year, the three-day programme will include Barbara Piwowarska, curator and art historian; Lauren Cornell, chief curator, Hessel Museum of Art, and director, Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College Graduate Programme New York; Reem Fadda, independent curator; Roobina Karode, director and chief curator, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in New Delhi; Hammad Nasar, curator, writer and researcher; Olivier Kaeser, art historian, curator and co-director, Swiss Cultural Centre, Paris; Pedro de Almeida, programme manager, 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, Sydney; Ruba Katrib, curator, SculptureCenter, New York; and Nada Raza, research curator, Tate Research Centre: Asia. The event will be moderated by Natasha Ginwala, curator of Contour Biennale 8 and curatorial advisor for Documenta 14.
