The Skin Prep
To prepare the look, my go to is always NARS Skincare. To really hydrate the skin I use NARS Luminous Moisture Cream (Dhs309) for the perfect base to your make-up, before moving onto the new NARS Radiance Primer (Dhs180) which is great for this region as it has SPF35. Applying it all over you skin helps to protect it against environmental factors and to also add a little bit of light for those who feel their skin is looking a little tired and grey. Primers ensure your make-up stays in place throughout the day so this step is essential to your routine.
The Skin Base
Before I begin on the base I always consider the texture and finish I want on the skin. Using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Custard (Dhs159) I can create a soft matte complexion as the concealer itself has a unique structure which also means it doesn’t fall into any fine lines. The formula allows for full coverage without the feeling of being overly heavy on the skin and they also come in a huge variety of colours. You can either apply it using a brush or your fingers and I also use three different shades to cover all the different imperfections on the skin. Finish by setting with powder.
Cheeks are up next where I bring the highlight underneath the blusher. Using NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Thessalonique (Dhs180) use the left side of the palette I softly highlight the temple and the top of the cheek area, as well as placing some product lightly on the plump part of the cheek. Next, I use my favourite brush the Yachiyo Kabuki Brush (Dhs299) with the beautiful NARS Blush in Bumpy Ride (Dhs165) to add some colour to the cheekbone and just under the brow. This gives a subtle gradation which is enhanced with more colour being applied to the apples of the cheeks and a sweep of colour near to the nose for a more youthful feel.
I started on the eyes using the NARS Velvet Shadow Sticks in Siros and Grande-Large (Dhs145 each). These products breathe new life into your eyeshadow by creating the most beautiful finishes. I wanted to create an almost undone texture because I’m going to use eyeshadow on top. Using the Velvet Shadow Stick in Grande-Large along the lash line and then all across the eyelid, I used my fingers to blend it out before applying the Velvet Shadow Stick in Siros along the bridge of the eye to add a hint of warmth with its golden copper colour.
Next using the NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Chiang Mai (Dhs180), pick up a little colour off each section tapping the excess shadow off the brush whilst mixing them together. I wanted to create something almost transparent so starting at the outer corner of the eye I used the brush to almost stipple over the velvet shadow sticks. Making the eyeshadow look like it’s already been worn, I then use circular motions with the brush if I want to add more colour and create a smoky eye effect and an almost windscreen wiper movement to soften the colours. Lastly using the Duo Eyeshadow I use a smaller blending brush to create a shadow against the bottom lash line.
To give the eyes again a little more interest I then take the NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Barrow Street (Dhs125) and use it on the inner rims of the eye to help open it up. Following this, the NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto (Dhs125) is perfect for creating a flick or underlining the lashes. Pulling your lid up you need to get the product right up to the roots of the lashes just before the skin of the lower waterline, so as not to interfere with the mint colour of the eyeliner in Barrow Street.
Finally in order to make your lashes look and feel thicker, use NARS Audacious Mascara in Black Moon (Dhs150) which will also help to give actual depth to the lash line and help the eyes to look brighter. An alternative is to also skip the mascara which is a backstage secret. It may sound crazy but to keep a softer look we will simply use the NARS Eyelash Curler (Dhs105) and create an underline so you still get the intensity that you do when using mascara. Finally, use NARS Brow Gel (Dhs120) to brush through and tame your brows.
Using either a small brush or again using your fingers, you can finalise your make-up by applying NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Breaking Free (Dhs150). Without over lining the lips use the bright colour on the outer corners of the lips, to give a fresh and modern feel to finish off the look.
