“I once had a woman who was on the verge of giving up hope of ever bearing children come to me to lose weight. After years of failing, I was her last resort. Within a month of her losing weight, she fell pregnant with her first child, and then shortly after, gave birth to her second. She constantly thanks me for changing her life.” Naylah Alzayani is talking about her company, The Lifestyle Centre, a Bahrain-based wellness facility which she describes as offering a personalised client-specific experience. “We do one-on-one consultations, and sell our programmes throughout the GCC.”

Far from being just another so-called health expert, Naylah’s own experience is what drew her to the industry she remains incredibly passionate about. “I struggled with weight my whole life,” Naylah reveals. “It was the day I decided to take control and lose weight that changed me forever. It proved I was capable of anything.” Shedding almost 20 kilograms, Naylah also noticed she had rid herself of many of the symptoms associated with the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome she’d been diagnosed with previously. She saw first-hand that weight loss wasn’t just about fitting into a pair of jeans. That was in 2006, and The Lifestyle Centre opened its doors a year later.

“My best moments are watching people who have previously struggled, reach their goals,” the weight loss consultant says. “It’s the gratitude they have in their eyes that breaks my heart and makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something.”

Just as comfortable in her beloved Saint Laurent and Chanel as she is in her trusted Nikes, Naylah starts each day with a run along the beach (“Fresh air is the only thing that gets me through the day”) but amps it up for an evening event. “By night, I’m dressed to impress in black leather trousers, red snakeskin Jimmy Choos, a YSL tassel croc bag and sporting a slick of red hot Ruby Woo MAC lipstick.”

Asked what she aspires to, she doesn’t miss a beat, “To be great, to inspire people and to live up to my name, as ‘Naylah’ means someone who succeeds in life.”
