Careem Now is delivering a lot more than just your favourite takeaway. The app – owned by ride-sharing company Careem – has recently rolled out a new feature and now offers on-demand grocery delivery service, available to Dubai residents.
Customers can now order essential items from local stores including groceries, organic food shops, pharmacies, pet stores, coffee shops and more. The most recent additions to the list include Lulu Hypermarket, 800-Pharmacy, 7-Eleven, The Pet Corner, Rootz Organic and Al Manara Pharmacy.
In a statement made by Gheed El Makkaoui, general manager of Careem UAE, "This new product launch enables us to further meet the needs of the community, and we are delighted to be able to offer delivery of essentials through our platform in a safe, efficient way to simplify the lives of our users."
As of now most services aim to deliver within an hour, however, timings may be impacted due to the level of demand. The ride-sharing app was apparently prompted to roll out the grocery delivery service due to the extension of the sanitisation period in the UAE in effort to fight the pandemic.
