Send in the clowns. New York’s timeless classic shows real promise in the UAE…

Originating from the Big Apple, with instalments in Las Vegas’s Bellagio and New Delhi’s Leela Palace, Le Cirque’s recent re-opening in Dubai oozes class and elegance. Nestled in the corner of the oh-so chic Ritz-Carlton Hotel DIFC, the décor is highly sophisticated; think contemporary chandeliers and art works, crisp white table clothes and ornate lamp shades.

Made up of a dining area, bar, conservatory and winter garden overlooking the DIFC terrace, this stylish new eatery is open for business lunch and dinner. And if you’re inclined, it’s also a great spot for stopping by for a post-work tipple. But, what is instantly striking aside from its beautiful interiors, is the level service and expertise of the wait staff and sommelier which really set the stage is set for a refined, intimate meal.

If, like me, you often find yourself trapezeing from decision to decision when it comes to picking your courses, the menu of classic French fare married with Italian influence is ideal. Thanks to a small yet carefully curated number of options you can fly through the air with the greatest of ease. Dishes are modest and light – all the better for taking the four-course route! We recommend sharing starters, a risotto or two to share, individual mains, followed by dessert (which are an absolute must and are created by Chef Silvia Pardini who joined Le Cirque Dubai from the New York outpost).

The yellow fin tuna tartare with chili-infused watermelon, pomegranate, coriander and lime and the lobster risotto are sublime and bursting with flavour. Meanwhile, the chargrilled tenderloin main course was melt-in-the-mouth perfection, served with light, fluffy pomme puree. But, it’s really the grand finale of saliva inducing puddings - including the ‘Paris best’ salt caramel cream with lemon and almond ice cream, the soufflé and the Italian-inspired bomboloni with spiced plum and cherry jam that will have you running away to join the circus before you’ve even paid the bill.
