How Blake Lively Achieved Her Post-Baby Body

When Blake Lively shot The Shallows, she was in the best shape she's ever been in, and this morning, the actress divulged a little more information about how she got her body there.

"I've never been in that good of shape in my whole life so to do it [get that bikini body] after having a kid was actually really nice," she told Australia's Kylie & Jackie O radio show. "Because you see your body after having a kid, and it's beautiful because you just gave birth but you also say, 'Oh my god, this is not what my body looked like'. You feel like you're never going to get your body back again. But you can and that was what was encouraging about it!"

Lively got that body with a combination of exercise and diet so she was ready to film eight months after giving birth — and a key element of that was giving up two kinds of food: "I did no gluten and no soy, which seems like, 'Oh, that's really easy to cut that out,' but you realise there's soy in everything you eat. And even if it's healthy – whole foods, organic stuff – there's always soy in it. So once you remove soy, you realise you're eating just no processed foods."

But the food-lover Lively didn't have to completely give up her sweet tooth. "I was still able to have sugar and all of those things. It's all in moderation. You just have a balance of protein, carbs, and vegetables. And it wasn't the worst. I was eating rice and sushi and but just no soy and no gluten. And watch how hard that is."
