The Amal Clooney scholarship was announced last December, offering one female student from Lebanon free enrollment in a two-year international baccalaureate program at a university in Armenia. The scholarship – which is part of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative and 100 Lives – is now in its second year and the latest recipient has just been chosen.

This year's Amal Clooney scholar was selected for "her stellar academic performance, positive energy and passionate sense of social responsibility". She plans to study law at university.
"We are proud to be able to empower our next generation of female leaders and humanitarians through this program," Ruben Vardanyan, co-founder of the initiative said. "We're excited by the possibilities this scholarship holds for the young women of Lebanon and the region."
In addition to the Amal Clooney scholarship, the initiative announced plans to offer a further 10 students from the Middle East the chance to study at boarding schools around the world from September. Each student is either a refugee or displaced, living in extreme poverty, or living with the loss of a parent or guardian. Over the duration of the entire program, 100 students will be offered this life-changing opportunity.
