Online shopping is one of those things that brings Team Bazaar great joy in life. The thrill of adding to cart and having items turn up on your doorstep just a few days later is something we will never tire of, so news of a brand new luxury e-commerce site opening on our very own shores this week has us giddy with excitement.
Bazaar can exclusively reveal that the Al Tayer Group is set to launch Ounass, the region's first deducated luxury e-commerce platform, on Thursday of this week. The site will be home to an extensive array of high-end ready-to-wear, fine jewellery, shoes, handbags and beauty offerings.
Exclusive pieces from Marli which will be available to purchase on launch
The first-of-its-kind site here in the Middle East will service the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to begin, with plans to extend further across the region. The site is set to offer two hour delivery (yes, you read that right and it's free of charge) in Dubai, same day delivery in the UAE and 48-hour delivery for those outside of the UAE. It will be available in both English and Arabic and offer customers several personalised services including at-home styling sessions.
Wondering just what you'll be able to shop when the site goes live? Well, luckily for you, we've got a sneak peak at some of the brands that will be available on the site below, and in amongst international heavyweights like Gucci, Roland Mouret, Alexander McQueen and Valentino, you'll also be able to shop the region's top names such as Rami Al Ali, Ayesha Depala, Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab.
Rami Al Ali has made eight exclusive gowns which will be able to shop when the site launches on Thursday
"Ounass.com offers the Middle Eastern customer relevant merchandise and content shot locally and created specifically for her lifestyle, together with a service promise unparalleled by any other regional e-tailer. The site will take her on a seamless personalised journey, where she will always discover the right product, including a constant offering of unique capsule collections and special pieces developed by our partners to satisfy her need for exclusivity,” Khalid Al Tayer said of the site.
There are several brands which have created exclusive pieces and collections for the site for its launch, including Rami Al Ali, fine jewellery brand Marli, Roland Mouret, Peter Pilotto and perhaps most excitingly, Gucci. The exclusive Gucci capsule consists of 12 items - three handbags, three shoes and six ready-to-wear clothing items - each of which has been captured in a stunning editorial which you can see in our gallery above.
Gucci has created an exclusive 12-piece collection for the site
Bazaar spoke exclusively with Eda Kuloglu, the senior vice president of merchandising for Ounass, about how the site will change the e-tail game in the region. "We know that our customer craves exclusivity, so each month we will offer between one-three new exclusive collections or items, something for every occasion from day to night, causal to formal. Collections crafted by the world’s most desirable brands, specifically with our audience in mind."
She also added that the exclusive collections from Gucci and Rami Al Ali were a huge coup. "We couldn’t be more proud and excited than to launch on day one with an exclusive capsule collection by one of the hottest superbrands in the world today, Gucci. Alessandro Michele is the captain of the fashion world right now and he has curated a collection in collaboration with our buying team, as part of the ‘Blind for Love’ Resort 17 collection, a mix of RTW, shoes and bags. In December, we are also offering a spectacular range of eight exclusive evening gowns by local designer Rami Al Ali, who is famous for his intricate beadwork. We worked closely with him at his atelier in Dubai, creating exquisite styles, perfect for the approaching festive and wedding seasons."
Bazaar has seen the list of exclusive collections and pieces that Ounass has lined up for the coming months and can attest to its sartorial prowess. The top ones to keep an eye out for include Self-portrait releasing four of its new season styles to the site one month ahead of its planned regional launch, Aquazurra having created an exclusive loafer and Zimmermann creating an exclusive capsule collection, in among many, exciting others.
The site is set to launch on Thursday, December 15, so we suggest you add it to your favourites now and have your credit card at the ready. In the meantime, click through our gallery above to see some of the pieces that will be available to buy and work on your wish lists.
