Each year, Pantone, a company that identifies popular colours, releases their annual 'Colour of the Year'; a shade they expect will be the most popular, standout colour for the year ahead.

For 2020, Pantone's pick for 'Colour of the Year' is one that pretty much everyone can agree on—a deep, calming shade of blue, appropriately named 'Classic Blue'.
In their words: "Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking Classic Blue highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era."

The enduring popularity of 'Classic Blue' has been reflected throughout fashion in 2019, specifically, in the realm of celebrity style.
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has a well-documented affinity for wearing blue, and her take on 'Classic Blue'—wearing Emilia Wickstead's namesake 'Kate' dress in November 2019—was a hole in one.

Gigi Hadid, meanwhile, showed her edgier and more modern (albeit still classic) take on the trend, when she stepped out wearing a blue-adorned Oscar de la Renta suit in October 2019.
