Jessica Alba has ventured into fashion design for the first time, putting her name to a collection for the New York denim label, DL1961. The actress, mother, businesswoman and Bazaar cover star alumna has designed an exclusive collection for the brand and also appears in the campaign.

"I'm very excited to join the DL team," Alba said about the project. "It's my first foray into fashion design, but I know I want to design for women of every body type. Feeling beautiful and confident in a pair of jeans is what every woman wants, and I want to be able to give them that."

DL1961 is known for its environmentally friendly practices, utilising technology that cuts the usage of water, energy and chemicals in the manufacturing process by nearly half.

"Jessica embodies the spirit of the DL woman – confident, style-conscious and business-savvy," Sarah Ahmed, the creative director of DL1961 said. "Our goal together is to offer women a superior product that makes them feel great, while also having a positive impact on the environment."

The collection, which has chic everyday separates stamped all over it, will be available at Harrods and Harvey Nichols from August - perfect timing for those planning a summer exodus to London. - via Harper's Bazaar UK
