Last night, Karl Lagerfeld staged Chanel's 2016/17 Metiers d'Art last night in the newly renovated Ritz Paris. The show was entitled, 'Paris Cosmopolite' and took place in the middle of the hotel's stunning dining room.
Aside from the meticulously crafted clothing and the opulent setting, there were several other highlights on the night. The face of Chanel's L'eau No.5 Lily-Rose Depp made her catwalk debut at the show, as did longtime friend of the brand Pharrell Williams, and Cara Delevingne returned to the runway for the first time in over a year to open the show. Lionel Richie's youngest daughter Sofia Richie also made her first appearance for the brand, so too did Lauryn Hill's daughter Selah Marley. Willow Smith also performed before the show began.
It was a bright show, with a joie de vivre that is not often present in such serious catwalk presentations (the finale featured all of the models dancing up a storm, for example) and Karl Lagerfeld told Business of Fashion after the show, "It's what we need now, no?"
