This is the swimwear line you should have on your radar now

Soak Up The Sun With Sapia Simone

At just 23-years-old Sapia Simone launched her namesake label. Creating fresh, modern and unique swimwear which soon caught the eye of fashion lovers from all across the globe, the designer is clearly set for great things. Drawing inspiration from her various travels and colourful background she speaks to Bazaar about her journey so far.

What is the story behind Sapia Simone?

With an Italian background and education at Instituto Marangoni, I knew from a young age where my passion for fashion was taking me, and one incredible adventure in Zanzibar brought the dream to life.

Why swimwear?

For 10 years I have been living in tropical locations such as Miami and Dubai and have travelled the world. It therefore came to me to create a brand for the avid traveller. My designs bring a fresh, unique twist to swimwear and resort wear and I want my brand to have a feel of this vibrancy. The tropically inspired prints are exclusively designed for a confident and active woman who likes to take risks, go on adventures whilst always keeping an element of sophistication in her suitcase.

How did you get into designing?
I was born surrounded by fabrics and clothes. My parents back in Italy have owned a manufacturing company for 35 years, producing for big names like Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Armani to name but a few. I have always been fascinated by the fashion world and being creative is what I love to do the best.

Where do you find your inspiration?

From my travels mainly. From my dreams and from nature, its forms, elements and wildlife too!

How does your Italian background influence your designs?

My Italian background influences mainly the production quality and the fabrics I choose. Trying to mix top quality material and unique designs are of key importance in each collection.

Tell us about your latest collection?

My latest collection has been inspired by the Caribbean and Cuba mainly. It features a clean but strong Palm Tree print, which I have created and developed in four different colours. It's bold, but minimal at the same time and therefore easy to be worn and very versatile.

What sets your swimwear apart from other brands?

Strong branding, authenticity through unique prints and high-quality materials that won't fade or stretch.

Where is your favourite place to travel?

Right now I'm in love with Bali - It's a mixture of the sea air and coconut trees.

Do you have a motto?

"To travel is to live."

What’s up next for Sapia Simone?

Along with swim and resort wear that are already part of my brand, I will be launching activewear for the 2018 collection. You heard it here first!
