London-based fashion designer Mary Katrantzou embraces elements of philately (postage stamps) and conchology (seashells) in her new ready-to-wear capsule collection, MARY-MARE, with an innovative illustrated campaign inspired by vintage postage stamps.
Embodying natural materials such as cotton poplin, linen and silk twill the new capsule collection contains easy and wearable pieces with a summertime edge, making us reminisce of our favorite oceanfront destinations. Seashells adorn free flowing silhouettes as they are projected onto georgette and cotton voile on standout mini-dresses and kaftans shapes, seemingly on a quest to connect back to Mother Earth.
The adaptation of each print story is portrayed in the form of swim lycra across six styles, whilst two new bikini styles complete the swim range offering something for all body shapes and sizes. The capped-sleeved scuba styles, and bandeau bathing suits have become the canvas for each collectors edition.
To complete the collection is Mary Katrantzou’s first accessories capsule with oversized raffia hats in rainbow shades wrapped in silk scarves to offer protection from the sun, along with two beach towels and three tote bags in seven different colours and print options.
Mary also worked with her in-house team on an illustrated campaign inspired by vintage post stamps that feature heavily within the inaugural MARY-MARE collection. The images will release in batches of three on the brand’s Instagram account. You can follow the reveal of each new series of stamps via the hashtag #WishWeWereThere.
