Once in a while – when creativity meets talent – magic happens and a new coveted accessory is born out of technical innovation, imagination and sheer love for the craft.
Valentino has revealed its new Atelier Rose Edition bags, as creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli pays homage to the Italian fashion house’s iconic couture roots. By incorporating techniques used by seamstresses to create couture pieces, he’s dreamed up a one-of-a-kind bag that is both playful and romantic.
Using sophisticated techniques that are usually applied to creating haute couture pieces, the newly designed silhouettes are crafted in extremely soft nappa leather for a very feminine look. Made out of five different sized "petals" which add intricate dimension and create a dainty look, the technique gives an elegant yet feminine appeal to the handbag.
Each petal is handcrafted and moulded by hand, before being sewn individually onto each bag by artisans. With a total of 90 leather petals per clutch, it takes approximately 10.5 hours of work to complete one bag -- and it's this mesmerising craftsmanship of leather petals that creates an tridimensional rose.
Valentino’s Atelier Rose Edition bags come in a variety of colours including ivory, black, red, rubin and rose cannelle.
