Cyril Zammit, Director of Design at Art Dubai Group describes the success of last year's inaugural saying, “It was clear that Dubai Design Week 2015 tapped into something that both Dubai and the design industry had been waiting for – a global platform for design in the UAE and the Middle East, and an opportunity to share and explore perspectives and ideas with people from a multitude of countries and cultures. This year, we want to build on that." He adds,
This year’s programme line-up will include: Downtown Design, the region’s leading design trade fair presenting design products from furniture, lighting, bathrooms, kitchens, textiles and accessories from over 100 brands across 25 countries. Programming will include the Global Grad Show, an exhibition featuring 135 innovate design projects from a selection of young creative student talent from leading universities across the world. The Abwab design initiative will include emerging and established talent from across the MENASA region showcasing their creative interpretations of this year’s theme: ‘The Human Senses.’ Additionally, Dubai Design Week will feature the exhibition ‘Iconic City: Cairo Now! City Incomplete’ curated by Mohamed Elshahed, editor-in-chief of the Cairobserver which will highlight the Egyptian capital's creative landscape portrayed through the perspective of young entrepreneurs, aspiring artists and graphic designers, alongside established design veterans. Dubai Design Week will present a series of public site-specific design installations taking place across the city including daily talks and workshop programmes at Dubai Design District.
