The Top 50 Restaurants In The World Have Just Been Announced

It took over 1,000 industry professionals which included chefs, restaurateurs and critics to decide on who would reign at the World’s 50 Best Awards. Held at the iconic Royal Exhibition building in Melbourne Australia, the most talented chefs from around the globe flew in to accept their prestigious accolades and places on the list.

Eleven Madison Park from New York topped the list as the World’s Best Restaurant and the Best Restaurant in North America, headed by the masterful Swiss-born Daniel Humm who after winning his first Michelin star at just 24-years-old is now executive chef and co-owner of the dining spot.  This meant last year’s winner Italy’s Osteria Francescana from Modena moved down to second place, pushing El Celler de can Roca from Spain into third.

France, Spain and the USA each secured six spots on the list, with the list also featuring nine new restaurants of which six were brand new and three re-entries. Other awards on the evening saw British chef Heston Blumenthal win the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ana Ros from Slovenia win The World’s Best Female Chef Award and Blue Hill at Stone Barns win the Highest Climber Award for moving up 37 places on the list.
