Wellness Escape At Le Gray Hotel In Beirut

Whisk away from the bustle of Beirut and indulge in a sanctuary of tranquillity at PureGray Health Club & Spa

Rarely does the city of Beirut offer the sensation of a wellness retreat. The ancient metropolis, known for its romantic ruins, bombed-out buildings and magnificent sea views, is known for its top-notch restaurants, nightclubs and avant-garde cultural scene. Yet nestled within one of the city’s grandest hotels, Le Gray by Campbell Gray Hotels, is the understated PureGray spa focused on a high quality treatments, health and wellness.

After a high-powered three days of gallery hopping and sightseeing, I made my way to the spa in order to tune off for several hours. While small in size – there are just six treatment rooms, including a couple’s room, a wet room as well as male and female saunas and a chill out lounge – PureGray offers an intimate and high quality ambiance typical of luxury boutique hotels. I indulged in a simple one-hour massage, nothing fancy. Still, as I made my way down the corridor I marvelled at the range of products on offer. There were Natura Bissé skincare for facials and Tisserand organic aromatherapy oils for massages and body treatments – brands that I associate with high-class wellness and relaxation.

Much to my surprise, the menu also listed a host of visiting practitioners in specific alternative medicine disciplines such as Cupping, Reiki and Acupuncture. Clearly, the spa offers a thought-out programme that couples holistic remedies with state-of-the-art products and technology. For those who wish to get a more in-depth pampering, there are a wide variety of treatments to choose from. From a Vitamin C Repairing Facial, Aromatherapy Candle Massage to Deep Tissue Massage and Maternal Caress, the list goes on to satisfy nearly every need.

Upon awakening from my treatment, I headed to the Gordon’s Café where I ordered a healthy salad and some tea. I passed the gym where I had taken a turn on the treadmill earlier in the morning – a stream of athletic guests and gym members were actively partaking in fitness regimes. Outside Beirut pulsated with life as a balmy sun endowed each building with golden beams of light. I felt refreshed and renewed ready to plunge again into the sea. An excellent sanctuary PureGray is – just the right amount of pause to a busy day.
