The 26-year-old Arab skied 130km across Antarctica in an altitude of 300m and weather conditions of minus-50 degrees Celsius

Last year, Abdullah Al-Ahbabi began his journey to trek to both the South and North poles. In April 2017, after skiing 160 km over the Arctic Ocean in minu-40 degrees Celsius, in an active Polar Bear region, the 26-year-old Emirati planted the UAE flag in the snowy terrains of the North Pole.

The UAE flag is on top of the world! After skiing 160 km over the Arctic Ocean in -40 C in an active Polar Bear region our team has reached the North Pole, and doing so two days faster than scheduled. The UAE now is number one in the Arab League (22 countries) for having the youngest person to reach the North Pole. Thank you to everyone who have supported me throughout this journey! My message: People will tell you their definitions of the word impossible, and will tell you to follow those definitions. However you have the power to change your own definition. Today I changed my impossible to possible and you can too! #UAEYouthChallenge #EmiratiAtNorthPole #UAE #YearOfZayed #NorthPole #Yahsat #Tawazun #Senaat #Adsm #AlsadeemAstronomy #EmiratesSteel #EtihadAirways

Fast-forwarded 10 months at the young Arab has made history once again, conquering the Southernmost area of the world, too, making him the youngest Arab to ever trek to both Poles.

“Waving the UAE flag proudly at the bottom of the world,” he writes on Instagram “After skiing over 130km across Antarctica at an altitude of over 3300m and weather conditions at -50 C I have reached the South Pole after conquering the incredible odds that laid in front of me.”

Waving the UAE flag proudly at the bottom of the world! After skiing over 130 km across Antarctica at an altitude of over 3300 m and weather conditions at -50 C I have reached the South Pole after conquering the incredible odds that laid in front of me. Antarctica clearly made me work for it, and it sure wasn’t any easier than the North Pole. I am happy that all the hard work and months of training payed off. More importantly I am honored to place the UAE at the top of Arab League (22 countries) for having the youngest Arab to ski to both poles unassisted. Impossible is just someone’s else’s limitation, don’t live within it. The magic happens where there are no limitations #UAEYouthChallenge #EmiratiAtSouthPole #UAE #SouthPole #ADCB #AlsadeemAstronomy #EtihadAirways #Etihad
