Instagram announced overnight that it would be introducing Instagram Stories globally across the next few days.
The new feature is essentially a copy of Snapchat's Stories function, whereby users can now post photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours. In addition to the images/videos you want pinned to your profile, you can post as many others to your story as you like.
Like Snapchat, Instagram Stories will also feature text and drawing tools but there has been no word on whether or not they will introduce custom filters also.
Stories will appear at the top of your Instagram feed, and whilst you won't be able to comment or like the story, you can private message the person using Instagram Direct.
Up until now, Snapchat and Instagram have mostly remained separate to one another but this announcement from Instagram has brought the two apps closer than ever. Your move, Snapchat.
