You won't regret following her on Instagram

One thing is for sure when we scroll through Bana Abujaber's Instagram feed: her style is one we love to copy. Born and raised in Amman, this 28-year-old girl knows her beauty.

The street style star's background is nothing short of impressive. Bana completed her undergraduate degree at Northeastern University in Boston, and in 2009 she received her first Fashion Marketing degree from Istituto Europea di Design. Then, she worked in New York City at a men's public relations showroom and went on to receive her second degree in Fashion Marketing from Parsons New School for Design. When Bana moved back to Amman in 2013, she did a bit of personal styling which led her to create her blog Sidenotebanaa.

Revealing her style secrets, Bana talks to Bazaar about what inspires her, her favourite trends and more. Read the full interview with the fashionista below.

HBA: What inspired you to become a fashion blogger?

Bana Abujaber: "I have always been enamoured with fashion, but it was when I moved back from New York to Amman that I decided to become a fashion blogger. Having lived in New York, I witnessed fashion rise to new heights through social media. Having said that, I felt like I now had the platform to construct my fashion identity from anywhere, so that’s what I did. I essentially wanted to bring back the magic I felt in New York and keep it alive in Amman, which Sidenotebanaa really helped me do."

HBA: What do you love most about your work?

BA: "What I do affords me so many opportunities that I am grateful for. Amongst the many things I love is the chance to travel in a different context than I usually do - meeting and spending time with new people and always learning something along the way. Additionally, I enjoy working with emerging designers and giving them what I hope is a platform for their work."

HBA: How would you describe your style?

BA: "My style is always changing and evolving. I don’t like to pigeonhole myself and say that I have a particular look or style. I am constantly drawing inspiration from what’s around me and my mood plays a huge role when it comes down to choosing an outfit. I love dressing to the nines but I also love a laidback look. I have no rules."

HBA: Where or who do you get your style inspiration from?

BA: "Everywhere!"

HBA: Favourite designers at the moment?

BA: "Dior and also loving Johanna Ortiz at the moment."

HBA: Favourite fashion trend at the moment?

BA: "1) The modern take on the cowboy look. 2) Red. Even though red is a colour that I would never be caught dead in, for some reason I think it’s something that will be rocking this fall."

HBA: What does your autumn shopping wishlist include?

BA: "The 80’s style sock boot in a bright colour, oversized blazer with shoulder pads and Louboutin Combat boots (Horse Guarda Flat)."

HBA: What’s a styling tip you live by?

BA: "To avoid the chaos that always comes with getting ready, I’ve started to choose one piece of clothing and just working around that. It’s saved me so much time and effort! This applies to anything - a pair of earrings, a dress or even a belt."

HBA: What’s a fashion trend that you would never try?

BA: "Bangs."

HBA: If you could have anyone’s wardrobe, whose would it be?

BA: "Danielle Bernstein from WeWoreWhat."

HBA: What are three beauty products you can’t live without?

BA: "Charlotte Tilbury's Light Wonder Foundation, Clarins Mission Perfection Serum and Benefit Gimme Brow (Volumizing Fiber Gel)."

HBA: Favourite make-up brand?

BA: "Charlotte Tilbury."

HBA: Skincare routine?

BA: "Morning Routine: First thing, I wash my face using La Roche Posay (Effaclar) with the Foreo Sonic facial cleansing brush. Then, I apply Clarins Mission Perfection Serum and Clarins Multi-Active Jour cream.

Night routine: I clean my face with Bioderma Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution. Then, I apply a pea-sized dollop each of Benzac and Differin all over my face (as a preventive measure to acne). I also use Kiehl's creamy eye treatment.

Once a week I apply a collagen mask from Apot.Care Paris."

HBA: Style secret?

BA: "When I love a trend, I try not to go overboard with it so I don’t get bored or repetitive. For example, if I’m into ruffles, I won’t incorporate it into my wardrobe too often, just one or two pieces will do!"
