The designer talks us through the history of his brand and we look at the avant garde Sauvage Privé collection

Each piece of Roberto Coin jewellery is finished with his signature ruby, set on the inside next to the brand name. His jewellery was signed by a ruby for the first time in 1996, and since then the brand has gone on to be featured on red carpets across the world.

“What makes it so special is that in ancient times they would say that if you allow ruby to be in contact with skin, it restores health and guarantees love and joy. And I like that idea of good energy,” explains Roberto Coin brand ambassador Rosemin Manji. “I like the idea of good energy being passed on from the designer to the customer.”

Talking about starting his brand, Roberto says: “To change my life at the age of 33 was a brave decision. I was a very successful hotelier, I was a businessman who fell in love with creativity; not a creator trying to become a businessman. That made my life easier.”

The avant-garde Sauvage Privé collection has a modern aesthetic while retaining Roberto Coin’s signature look.
