Are These Sneakers The New Stan Smiths?

If Emma Watson has anything to do with it, they will be

We all know that Adidas’ Stan Smith sneakers are a sartorial stalwart for the fash pack, and they’ve long gone unchallenged as the ‘it’ functional-but-fashionable shoe. But that could all be about to change, thanks to French brand Veja.
The brand uses only socially conscious techniques to produce its shoes (which are all made in Brazil) and prides itself on its ethical production methods and sustainable materials. British beauty Emma Watson is leading the charge on the brand, wearing them in one of her recent Instagram posts.
She wrote, “These trainers use recycled plastic bottles to create the upper, and #wildrubber in the soles (#wildrubber is a project that seeks to increase the value of wild rubber to local tappers). [Veja] uses innovative ecological materials, working closely with the people who produce them to try and create an economical, ecological and social difference.”
Emma only wears eco- and people-conscious brands both off and on the red carpet these days, making the decision last year. The move hasn’t hampered her relentlessly chic style, and serves as an important reminder that looking cool whilst remaining socially conscious is entirely possible.
The Veja sneakers come in a variety of colourways and are also priced between Dhs400-525, depending on the materials and style.
See the options in the gallery above or click here for more information.
With a recent study showing that women are now buying more trainers than heels, cementing the shift in our style preferences, we’d say you should snap up your own pair way ahead of the pack.
