Charlotte Olympia Reveals New Barbie-Inspired Collection

First Marc Jacobs took us on a stroll down memory lane, tapping into our 90s nostalgia with his MTV-inspired collection released just last week, and now British shoe designer Charlotte Olympia is doing the same.

 

The designer has just released a limited edition collection, inspired by none other than our childhood best friend, Barbie. Charlotte revealed in a press statement that she too was excited by the idea, saying, “This was a childhood dream come true to collaborate with Barbie! It was a fantastic opportunity to be able to design and create a Charlotte Olympia aesthetic for one of the most iconic figures in the world.”

 

The five-piece collection (which you can see in our gallery above) features three pairs of shoes, and two clutches, and sees Charlotte reimagine some of her iconic pieces, like the Kitty flats, Pandora clutch and heeled sandal silhouette, all of which are brimming with Barbie-inspired accoutrements (like Marabou feathers and pom poms), in a doll-like, bubblegum pink (naturally). 

 

In addition to the accessories, Charlotte has also designed a limited edition Barbie doll, “inspired by old Hollywood glamour” and the original 1950s model. Everything the doll is wearing has been designed by Charlotte, and the pack includes several other additional pieces with which to dress the Barbie, including shoes, a handbag, gloves, earrings, sunglasses and a fascinator.
