Is Hedi Slimane Starting His Own Label?

We can only hope so

Word around the fashion-rumour-mill is that Hedi Slimane – who recently departed from Saint Laurent after a four-year tenure– could be looking for an investor to back his own fashion house.

Slimane was recently spotted at Mayhoola For Investments in Doha, Qatar. This leading to speculation that he is looking for financial backing in a new venture.

While there has been no specific hints from Slimane himself about what’s next, it seems like a logical step, after already serving two-decades at luxury fashion houses.

According to sources, the Mayhoola fund is hoping to expand its luxury fashion portfolio. The fund currently controls reputable house Valentino, amongst others.

In a recent interview Slimane revealed his plans to move to New York and be bi-coastal, also sharing his desire to do work in the Big Apple, but doesn’t offer much detail. 

“I don’t see the point in me having a place there if I don’t do anything with it — I have to transform it into something creative. I have a little studio — a portrait studio.”

If the rumours are true, we cannot wait to see what Slimane does next! Watch this space.
