Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig on their recent trip to the UAE

Trip Duration: One week, but a busy one at that! We were showcasing our Couture and Bridal collections at Arab Fashion Week and also spent time at our store – luckily, we were able to get a few hours in at the beach and spend time with our families!

Flight Plan: We flew First Class on Emirates direct to Dubai. It was a 13 hour flight, but an unbelievable experience. The seats convert into fully flat beds (with mattresses!) and the Shower Spa (yes, you can shower in-flight) was amazing and much needed for such a long flight!

Carry-On: "I love my Bally Bloom XL Bag–it's my go-to carry-on," says Georgina. "It is the perfect size for holding everything my children and I need on the plane. When traveling, I always like to bring items with me that make me feel as if I am home – no matter where I am! You will always find my own down pillow with a Frette pillowcase, my camera (even if it's just the one on my phone)–since inspiration can strike at any moment, Patricia Wexler moisturizer with SPF and comfortable flats."

For Keren, "Away luggage holds everything I need, and it has a built in charger–making it the perfect travel bag. Accessories and skincare are a must when traveling, so I always bring a regenerating serum by Patricia Wexler and a Eugenia Kim hat–her hats are so fun and add so much personality to any look. I also love Bally round sunglasses, a round shape and neutral frame go with everything!"

Tour Group: Because we were traveling to Dubai to show during Arab Fashion Week we had quite a large group. We traveled with our CEO, Edward Chapman, our PR team, design team and assistants.

Where We Stayed: Viceroy Palm Jumeirah followed by the One&Only. The Viceroy Pam Jumeirah has the most stunning décor and the entryway is breathtaking! The One&Only is so luxurious and offers an incredible view of the city and beach, so we had the best of both worlds!

Best Hang Out Spot: Jumeirah Beach was heavenly! The beachfront at the One&Only The Palm is Dubai’s most intimate beach located on Palm Island. We enjoyed a much needed day of R&R after showing three(!) collections at Arab Fashion Week.

Best Activity: A sunset tour. This was the best way to experience the culture of Dubai. During the tour we were able to get a taste of so many different local activities–like henna, camel rides and sand dune driving.

Best Night Out: Celebrating Arab Fashion Week at the Burj Khalifa where we received the Guest of Honor Award from the Arab Fashion Council.

Best Thing We Ate: Dinners at Jean-Georges Dubai and Cipriani – they’re two of our favorite restaurants in both Dubai and at home in New York City!

Trip Highlight: Showing our Bridal, Pre-Fall 2017 and Fall 2017 collections, with a sneak peek into Resort 2018, for the first time at Arab Fashion Week. We also loved visiting our Marchesa Store at The Dubai Mall Fashion Avenue. This is our first brick and mortar store in the world and we were so excited to meet with clientele and host VIP fittings while we were in town.

Could not Leave Home Without: It’s important to always pack comfortable shoes, we brought a lot of Marchesa sandals on this trip as they work for day and night. We also brought a few caftans from our recent capsule collection we created for Moda Operandi. The colors and embroideries fit in so well with local culture.

We Wish We Had...a proper camera! Dubai is such a beautiful city, we would have loved to have taken better quality photos to remember our trip.

Favorite Shopping: The Gold Souk. We find great inspiration while shopping in Dubai and such unique pieces. No matter where we travel we always come home with fresh ideas and beautiful trinkets. We also love the Dubai Mall – there are so many stores and it’s so easy to spend hours there!

Most Inspiring Aspect: The warm welcome we received from Dubai! It’s such a beautiful city–the architecture is so ornate and beautiful, not to mention the juxtaposition of the desert landscape against the modern skyline. Dubai is also so unique as anything is possible there–where else would it be 95 degrees and you can go skiing inside a mall?!
