Leonardo DiCaprio Shares An Inspirational Message On Instagram With Greta Thunberg

“It is because of Greta… that I am optimistic about what the future holds”

Leonardo DiCaprio is a man of many talents – an actor, a producer, and above all, a devoted environmental activist. 

Yesterday, DiCaprio met fellow activist Greta Thunberg, who at just sixteen years old has already earned international recognition for her passionate campaigning against climate change. The actor shared a picture of himself with Greta on Instagram, where he was keen to share his praise for the teenager’s dedicated work ethic, hailing her as “a leader of our time.”

There are few times in human history where voices are amplified at such pivotal moments and in such transformational ways – but @GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time. History will judge us for what we do today to help guarantee that future generations can enjoy the same livable planet that we have so clearly taken for granted. I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over. It is because of Greta, and young activists everywhere that I am optimistic about what the future holds. It was an honor to spend time with Greta. “I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over. It is because of Greta, and young activists everywhere that I am optimistic about what the future holds,” he wrote.

Environmental activism has long been a cause very close to the DiCaprio’s heart. In August, the actor pledged Dhs18million towards preserving the land damaged by the Amazonian fires, launching the Amazon Forest Fund, an emergency charity fund that he hoped would help “protect the life-sustaining biodiversity of the Amazon against the surge of fires currently burning across the region.”
