Dubai Culture And Bulgari Have Launched An Annual Art Award
The winning artist will have the opportunity to explore the most beautiful cultural sites of Rome…
As Dubai gears up to host Expo 2020, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) – the official cultural supporter of the international exhibition – has joined hands with Italian luxury giant Bulgari Group for the prestigious launch of the inaugural ‘Bulgari Contemporary Art Award’, with support from the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The yearly award will celebrate contemporary art and its vast contribution to the cultural development of the UAE, providing an exciting platform to nurture local talent.
With the overarching theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, Expo 2020 will demonstrate the ways cities such as Rome and Dubai are connected through innovation and art.
The launch of the award coincides with the UAE’s golden jubilee, cementing the country’s position as one of the most thriving centres for talent. Dubai Culture’s collaboration with Bulgari is strengthened by the shared belief in modern artistic expression and creativity as a form of communication and exchange.
The annual award will have three stirring categories in the realm of visual art, spanning drawing and painting, photography and sculpture. From the entries, Dubai Culture will select three to five nominees for each category, and the winning artwork will be chosen by a judging panel of experts from Dubai Culture and Bulgari, alongside other jurors.
The work will be exhibited at the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020, and the artist will be offered the once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel to Rome as part of a week-long journey that will comprise visits to design centres, workshops, historical sites and an array of exclusive cultural locations, planned specially through the eyes of Bulgari.
The deadline for submitting the participating works will be in mid-December 2021, while the winning work will be announced early February 2022.
