Vacheron Constantin Joins Forces with Emirati Designer Omar Al Gurg This Ramadan

The artist and Swiss watchmaker have unveiled an art installation inspired by the region and the spirit of the Holy Month

Vacheron Constantin has teamed up with Emirati designer Omar Al Gurg as he unveils a unique Ramadan art installation in time for the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Titled Among The Pillars, the installation pays homage to the Middle Eastern landscape and opulent Islamic architecture during the Holy Month. Omar’s minimalist approach to his craft makes the installation in line with The Maison’s annual theme, ‘Less’ential’ as it portrays the beauty yet impact of simplicity in design.

The 4-meter-tall piece was created from two locally sourced yet innovative and sustainable materials; Plypalm and DateForm both come from symbols of the nation, namely the palm tree and date seeds, making the installation a tribute to the region’s heritage.

The Maison’s own artistic finesse can be seen in the form of an engraved plate unveiling the Vacheron Constantin cross, a top the shorter pillars.

The designer’s unique modular approach combines intricacies of craftsmanship with local materials, aligning with the Vacheron Constantin’s focus on culture, innovation and craftsmanship.

“In the spirit of Ramadan, this distinctive masterpiece embodies values of heritage, community and Islamic art through the use of innovative and sustainable palm tree material,” said Christophe Ramel, Vacheron Constantin Regional Managing Director. “We welcome our clients to discover this avant-garde art installation in our regional boutiques. Ramadan Kareem!”

The main art installation will be exhibited in the atrium of the Vacheron Constantin at Dubai Mall, with replicas to be displayed in all regional showrooms across the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain for the entire month of Ramadan.
