Jumeirah Emirates Towers Celebrates 25 Years In The Skies
Nestled in Dubai’s square mile, Jumeirah Emirates Towers stretches into the clouds above the financial district, and this year celebrates a quarter century of haute hospitality
Rising above the glittering heart of Dubai’s hustling and bustling DIFC, Jumeirah Emirates Towers remains one of the city’s most instantly recognisable silhouettes in which to stay. With 400 rooms, 14 world-class restaurants and bars, its own shopping and entertainment boulevard, and private access to the Museum of the Future and the Dubai Metro, its prime location and ultra-luxe amenities have enabled it to remain top of the must-stay hotels list for professionals and inner-city buzz addicts since it opened at the turn of the millennium.
Principally a business hotel, the striking architecture of the tower speaks to its sleek, slick and ultra-smart aesthetic. Boasting 54 floors, the hotel’s eye-catching design was conceived by Hazel Wong, blending aluminium and glass to create a mirror-ball effect in the skies, with triangular panels inspired by Islamic geometry. Hazel’s goal was to create a building that appeared “to be constantly changing, depending on the point of view and time of day,” and it was brought to life through an international design competition commissioned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who requested that the build be twice as high as the Dubai World Trade Centre. Impressively, it remains the 5th tallest hotel in the world.

On its quarter-century anniversary, the hotel remains just as sumptuous as it was at inception. The pinnacle of luxury is its two-story Royal Suite and three themed Presidential Suites, with plush bedrooms accompanied by ultra-chic living spaces in which to rest, work or watch the sunset from the expansive windows that deliver panoramic views. Cameras at the ready – at this altitude, the sun magically melts away into the mists.

Each suite has its own distinct personality. Take the Versace-designed wonder that feels like walking into another world – two bedrooms, jacuzzi bathrooms and a personalised butler service ensure that you have space and decadence in spades to discard your mental load at the door, and perhaps even take the room’s grand piano for a spin. Boldly striped walls, Italian frescos and gilt domes with jewel-encrusted chandeliers bring Versace’s signature fearless opulence to life for maximalists, while for those who prefer to err towards minimalist design codes, can reserve the Scandinavian Suite – it boasts an entirely different, understated aesthetic for those averse to glitz and glamour.

While not on the same scale as a suite, the hotel’s deluxe rooms feel equally elevated, with marble bathrooms that look out on the same sensational view and serve the same meticulously tailored details.

Jumeirah Emirates Towers may be perfectly located for those heading to the office, but it is far from all work and no play. Offering fine dining and casual-luxe spaces to unwind and indulge, the tower’s 14 restaurants and nightlife nooks cater to all tastes. From Alta Badia – on the 50th floor – which serves Italian cuisine with sky-high views of the city, to gourmet Lebanese Al Nafoorah, along with more informal dining spots such as Mundo, there is an eaterie to suit all palates. Ninive and The Nice Guy are favourites for a stylish dinner, while the Daefi Lounge serves an elegant afternoon tea – offering the perfect pause after an afternoon shopping. La Cantine du Faubourg, meanwhile, is beloved for its bright and airy brunches, with scintillating Friday night entertainment.

If you have time to unwind, then the hotel’s pool is a minimalist take on an inner-city oasis, while the Talise Spa includes tranquil treatment rooms and a flotation pool. The fitness centre – complete with personal coaching services – will cater to those who don’t want to miss a training session while travelling for work.
The hotel boasts direct private access to the Dubai Metro – it is in fact the only hotel in Dubai to have its own Metro station – and is strategically located between DIFC, Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Mall, and the Museum of the Future, making it easy to entertain all generations of the family across the city… and all the easier to come back.
