Madiyah Al Sharqi and Zayan the Label are amongst the ten designers to be exhibited

As part of their efforts to nurture the UAE’s creative industry and create a sustainable future for the country, the Sharjah-headquartered Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council have partnered with high-end department store Fenwick of Bond Street to celebrate ten UAE-based designers at a pop-up in London.

Launching on July 11 at the luxury retail space, the shoppable exhibition will showcase some of the region’s best loved artisans, including Emirati jewellery artist Alia Bin Omair; Sara Mahmood and Asma Mustafa, creators of contemporary womenswear label Align; eponymous womenswear designer Faissal El-Malak; jewellery designer Amal Haliq; award-winning fashion brands Madiyah Al Sharqi and Zayan the Label; Latifa Al Gurg of Twisted Roots; Sheikha Hind Majid Al Qassimi of Designed by Hind and Mona Fares of Neon Edge.

Buying manager Leo Fenwick said, “Fenwick is known for its distinctiveness and innovation, and proud to partner with Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council; sharing its passion to expand the presence of local talent beyond the Middle East, as part of Fenwick’s ongoing commitment to promoting and nurturing the best of emerging International design.”

Under the generous patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment, and Royal Patron of Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, the partnership between Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council and Fenwick of Bond Street will donate proceeds from the sales to the designers, in support of their craft. A percentage will also be invested in in ensuring the professional and social empowerment of women practicing the crafts in the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East and North Africa, South East, and Central Asia regions.

“As part of Irthi Contemporary Craft Council’s longstanding commitment to foster a generation of successful designers and craftswomen in the UAE and beyond, the council equips them with international expertise and training that opens up new markets for these designers and their ambitious collections,” explains Reem KimKara, Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment. “The grand reception we have received by Fenwick of Bond Street is heart-warming, and further solidifies these efforts. We aim to make the most of this collaboration by bringing to the UK the crème of fashion from the Middle East.”

The pop-up will open on July 11 and run through till the end of August
