Van Cleef & Arpels Reveal New Bouton d’Or Jewels
The latest additions to the collection feature eye-catching turquoise and lapis lazuli
The Bouton d’Or collection from Van Cleef & Arpels is one of the Maison’s most feminine designs, recognised for the curved lines of a jewellery motif called “Pailette” that was first introduced in the 1930s. Reminiscent of sequins, the overlapping discs are today available in various gem and hardstone combinations, volumes and colours.

This month the Maison has introduced further materials to the collection with the blended blues of turquoise and lapis lazuli complemented by yellow gold and diamond accents. The five new creations – a necklace, ring, bracelet, pendant and pair of earrings – feature these carefully selected materials with prices starting from Dhs 89,300.

The “pailette” motif was first unveiled by the Maison in 1936 in an ode to the fashionable sequins of the 1930s and began as a pastille of yellow gold with a precious stone at its centre. The motif developed throughout the 1940s and 50s to appear on a variety of jewels, including the skirts of the iconic ballerina clips that created the volume of their skirts.
