Aiding everything from premature ageing to reducing the appearance of scars, BAZAAR gives you the DL on all things Rosehip Oil and its magical benefits. It’s no wonder why the Duchess of Cambridge swears by it…

If it’s good enough for royalty, it’s good enough for us too. Right? According to an interview by US Weekly, The Duchess of Cambridge’s go-to skincare product is an organic rosehip oil – and now we know why. According to a source close to the Duchess, “Kate continues to use rosehip oil in her daily skincare regiment,” and “she loves the effect it has on her skin.” We caught up with all-natural skincare brand Grown Alchemist‘s Operations Manager Eilis Cummins to answer all your rosehip oil questions…

Antioxidant+ Facial Oil: Borago, Rosehip, Buckthorn. Sweet Almond Oil and Rice Bran, rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, E and Oryzanol, visibly improve skin tone and firmness while reducing the appearance of age spots, leaving the skin complexion looking beautifully radiant. Borago, rich in hydrating and nourishing Triglycerides, noticeably balances and improves skin hydration. Head to the link in our bio to shop. #grownalchemist #skincare #health #beauty

What, exactly, is Rosehip Oil?

First of all, to break it down – rosehip oil is a pressed seed oil extracted from the seeds of rose hips. Commonly extracted from Rosa Canina which grows in many regions around the world, the oil is full of all of the essential Omegas (3, 6 and 9) and is also rich in Vitamins A, E and C.

It’s naturally anti-ageing…

Giving you that glowing Jessica Kahawaty completion without the salon treatments, rosehip oil “helps to reverse and prevent premature ageing, whilst also working to smooth skin tone, reduce scarring and pigmentation,” says Eilis Cummins.

Rosehip oil is naturally high in linoleic acid (an essential fatty acid found mostly in green stuff like plant oils), Vitamin C and most notably Vitamin A, which basically encourages cell turnover – and the golden ticket – collagen production, whilst also hydrating and protecting the skin.

With all of that skin regeneration and the combination of rich, essential fatty acids, this restorative oil also helps to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

It suits all skin-types

As it’s an ultra-nourishing dry oil and absorbs much faster into the skin than other facial solutions, this miracle mixture is pretty much good for everyone. According to Eilis, “Pure rosehip oil is suitable for all skin types including combination or oily skin as it works to re-balance skin while reducing the appearance of blemishes.”

Cold weather mini-breaks can wreak havoc on your skin, so it might need a little extra protection. Be it a city break or week on the slopes, lock in moisture by applying 2-3 drops of our Rosehip Oil over the top of your favourite moisturiser. Loving this pic, thank you @allieandsam

It reverses sun damage

Eilis says that because it’s packed with vitamins, “rosehip oil can help reduce and eventually reverse the damage caused by free radicals as a result of overexposure to sunlight” However, “it cannot protect skin from UV rays”, so it’s definitely worth investing in a quality sunscreen to wear too.

Your all-in-one protective, nourishing, brightening and balancing little daily booster! ✨ #discovertrilogy⁣

It can also be used as a hair serum

Not all heros wear capes, but this beauty elixir boasts a multi-functional useage, so slather it on as a hair serum to target dry, split ends. You can even use it on your on cuticles!

Hello pretty! Our new Rosehip Scrub & Masque fitting in perfectly with our Rosehip Range! Did you know that our certified organic Rosehip Oil is Cold Pressed? That makes sure all nutrients remains in the oil!

Top tips:

To get the most out of your rosehip oil, it’s recommended to store it in a cool, dark place to keep it fresh and to massage a few drops gently into your facial skin, neck and décolletage twice a day after cleansing and toning (and before applying your fav moisturiser of course).
