Zaatari's solo show 'The Third Window' offers a contemplative look at the ideas of displacement and war, themes that hit close to home for the artist

Beirut-born video artist Akram Zaatari’s photography series captures various objects through an historical lens. The show offers portraits and images collected over time, reflecting his astute use of techniques such as photography diffusion. His focus lies on negatives and traces left on photographs, as he delves deep into their personal histories.

Zaatari’s works are a survey of themes such as occupation, displacement, partition, blockade, violence and war, and he certainly draws on memory, unsurprising as he lived through the Lebanese Civil War. A keen exploration of the subjective nature of history.
