On 25 May, Thinkers & Doers, an international network of innovative and creative forces, presented a networking morning talk session in Abu Dhabi. The panel discussion, which was held at Paris-Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University, and entitled How Can Education Foster Creativity, brought together local and international experts, including Dr Gilles Demonet from the IReMus Institut in Paris; Dr Mohamed Baniyas, Executive Director for Higher Education at ADEC, and Dr Ann-Maree Reaney, Dean of College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University. The panel discussed various perspectives on the role of education and creativity, and how both are cornerstone to our everyday lives. Moreover, the panelists exchanged ideas on how policy makers and educational professionals can use education as a creative tool on the path towards innovation. “How to create and how to innovate? Those two items should be the heart of education and programs. If young people know how to do that, they will have the key to lead their own future,” said Amandine Lepoutre, CEO of Thinkers & Doers. Supporting this statement, Dr Baniyas noted, “Rather than focusing on what happens in the classroom, schools are starting to focus more on student’s achievements. A very encouraging change has been noted in schools curricula, with more art and design.”
Earlier this spring, Thinker’s & Doers hosted a networking breakfast on 27 April once again in collaboration with Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi on Art Collecting: Unveiling the Secrets of the Art Business. Panelists included renowned artist eL Seed, Designer Sam Baron, and Salma Shaheen, Partner and Head of Middle East Office, The Fine Art Group.
