NON-TOURING

Glowing skin and no-makeup makeup are set to advance in 2020, with contoured faces making way for the return of 2015 and 2016's soft strobing and 'non-touring' dewiness.

THE EUPHORIA EFFECT

As proven by numerous runways at New York Fashion Week in September 2019, the Euphoria effect is expected to continue its reign well into 2020. Prepare to see more bedazzled eyes with graphic lines and candy pastels across lids and cheeks.

SIXTIES-STYLE NEON EYELINER

Running parallel to the Euphoria effect, '60s-style winged eyeliner made a neon splash on the spring/summer 2020 runways, appearing in the shows of Helmut Lang (pictured here), Versace and Nicole Miller, among others.

BOLD VINYL LIPS

While striking lips are always de rigueur, expect 2020's iteration to take on a vibrant vinyl effect. Endorsed by some of the world's biggest fashion houses, the high-shine lacquer look was seen on the runways of Sies Marjan (pictured here), Off-White and Louis Vuitton.

EYEBROW LAMINATION

With thicker arches remaining one of the biggest brow trends of 2020, eyebrow lamination, a semi-permanent treatment that delivers the look of microblading without needles, is expected to gain significant popularity in the new decade.

NINETIES LIP LINER

@beyonce

The '90s made a strong comeback in 2019, and one beauty trend in particular is set to carry through to 2020: visible lip liner. Quietly trickling up over many months, the look has been seen on the likes Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian West, the stars of Euphoria and Christopher John Rogers' spring 2020 catwalk.

[7]

ULTRA-GLOSSY

Moving away from the extreme matte look, the all-over gloss effect combining lips, lids and cheeks will be a major trend for 2020. Although transeasonal in its appeal, it made its grand debut on the spring/summer 2020 runways, most notably at Chanel

[8]

SEVENTIES-INSPIRED SMOKEY EYES

While the smokey eye has far from renounced its position as one of the most popular eye makeup trends of all time, 2020's version is a little bit different from the standard. Borrowing inspiration from the '70s, the new smokey eye, seen on the runways of Guy Laroche, Brandon Maxwell and Tom Ford, features tones of copper, bronze and cognac for a warm, soft-focus finish.

THE 'CLEAN MANICURE'

@jessicawashick

An eco-friendly alternative to the standard shellac or polish options available in salons, the 'clean manicure', also known as the 'naked manicure', will be one of the leading nail trends of 2020. Unlike standard manicures, this new polish-free procedure excludes the harsh ingredients present in most traditional nail treatments, and also features natural keratin to set and strengthen the nail. You can learn more about it here.

COLOUR-BLOCKED MAKEUP

One of the most popular beauty trends in history, 1984's colour-blocked makeup is making a triumphant return in 2020. Comprised of two or more contrasting hues placed right next to one another, this look took over the spring 2020 runways of Oscar de la Renta, Nicole Miller (pictured), Christian Siriano and Antonio Marras, among several others.
