Beauty Diaries: Hala Reda on Her Go-To Make-Up Brands, Miracle Products and In-Flight Essentials

MAKE-UP AND FRAGRANCE

I always experiment with make-up trends and follow what’s new in the market. I like Huda Beauty because it caters to Arab skin colour and tone. I’m also a fan of Patrick Ta’s Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush duo compacts (Dhs140).

As for the day, especially during summer, I use Rare Beauty Cream blush in Worth (Dhs130) for a dewy glow. Earthy nude tones suit my eyes and colouring.

FOUNDATION/CONCEALER

My favourite foundation?Huda Beauty foundation Latte 300 N because it provides full coverage. I have used concealer Tarte concealers in 29N (Dhs145) for years.

Huda Beauty Terracotta for dark lining (Dhs90) and Charlotte Tilbury’s Iconic Nude lipliner (Dhs120) are my go-tos for a natural look.

I layer them with my favourite lipstick brand, Natasha Denona; top shades are: I Need A Nude 10 NB and 13 NB (Dhs110). Also, Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk (Dhs160).

When it comes to mascara, Huda Beauty (Dhs140) gives so much volume to my lashes.

I play with scents like I style my outfits. I have more than 50 perfumes so it depends on the occasion. Usually, during the day, I use light scents, and I go to more intense ones during the night. For gym and errands, I use Tom Ford Body Spray White Suede (Dhs360). I layer oud perfumes with fruity ones such as Oud Isphahan from Dior (Dhs1,120) with Mon Guerlain Sparkling Bouquet (Dhs685). Another favourite is Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land (Dhs985). Montale Rose Musk is amazing for layering with Montale Dark Purple (Dhs495).

I always prep my skin before adding foundation. Tom Ford shimmery primers (Dhs425) help skin to glow. A primer is key to achieving the look you want. I also mix my illuminating primer from Laura Mercier (Dhs170).

HAIR

Fadia Mendalak has been doing my hair for 15 years. She’s the only person I trust with colour and trims. She has magic hands when it comes to cuts; my hair tends to grow fast. As for special occasion hair styling, I have the best in town – Assad Hair Salon.

Kerastase Resistance shampoo and conditioner (Shampoo Dhs150 and Conditoner Dhs175) is always in my shower. Bumble and Bumble Prét-à-powder post-workout dry shampoo mist (Dhs130) as I work out five times a week is also one of my hair staples.

SKINCARE

I use a cleanser from Sisley (from Dhs590), along with SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture (Dhs290).

I also use La Roche Posay sun cream as it is matte, and I have oily skin. I always have the Shiseido compact powder (Dhs150) in my bag as it’s SPF 50. I apply it all day. During workouts, I use a Shiseido Clear Suncare Stick SPF50+ (Dhs235).

My miracle product is Cicaplast Baume B5 (Dhs150) if I have a procedure like a peels or laser. It works as a barrier to maintain the moisture of the skin.

I go to Dr. Nour Jerbeka, as she has a natural skincare approach and knows about all the latest products.

IN-FLIGHT ESSENTIALS

I only carry basic make-up, perfume, hand cream, and a toothbrush.

MANICURE

Red in winter; I never change it – and fresh colours for summer.
