The long-awaited fragrance from Alexander McQueen is finally unveiled
It’s one of the greatest British fashion houses and this month Alexander McQueen is unveiling a new fragrance; its first under the creative direction of Sarah Burton. Over 10 years have passed since the brand’s last scent and, following endless seasons of outstanding collections – plus a decade of waiting – expectations are high.
While the scent may have been produced by Proctor & Gamble, Burton was involved with every stage of the process.
“I wanted this fragrance to come from night flowers, the kind that exude an eternal freshness once the day is gone,” she explains. The fragrance is a heady blend of sambac, jasmine and ylang ylang, all of which bloom at night. “People forget that these flowers become newly modern every day; that even as they’ve faded, they soon regenerate and flower, shaping the air with their scent,“ Burton adds.
In keeping with the brand’s approach to its fashion collection, every part of the fragrance has been created using the most exquisite materials. The bottle itself is a work of art, with dark glass, a heavy, sculpted topper and intricate gold-leaf embellishment.

No word yet on when the scent will arrive on our shores, but if you’re heading to the UK anytime soon, McQueen Parfum is available exclusively at Harrods now, with the eau de parfum version to follow in August.
