Christian Louboutin Launches Les Yeux Noirs Eye Collection

It’s all about the eyes for Christian Louboutin this season, as his next foray into the world of beauty see’s the introduction of the Les Yeux Noirs Collection which includes Les Yeux Noirs Lash Amplifying Lacquer mascara, Oeil Vinyle Luminous Ink Liner, Oeil Velours Velvet Eye Definer, and a Brow Definer. Launching officially on March 25 across the region and globe, the products are set to enhance the most expressive feature on the face with masterful tools of the trade.

As with all aspects of the luxury brand, attention to detail is key. From the formula to the application and final product, you can expect the ultimate experience as make-up becomes a true art form. For Louboutin “You can see happiness, sadness, fear, fierceness…You definitely see everything through the eyes” so for the collection it was all about amplifying these expressions and the true essence of her look.

As in his previous collection, Louboutin has also drawn inspiration from his heritage and travels. Looking to his beauty icon Egyptian Queen Nefertiti who was a main focal point for his lip collection, Louboutin looked to her eyes this time and the sculpted liner she used to create. Delving further into the culture, he also used Egyptian motifs of lotus flower petals and Art Deco esque geometry on the packaging of the collection.

India also played a role in the creation of the formulas where a traditional Indian dance called Kathakali was the focal point. Known for their opulent make-up, the dancers create elaborately drawn eyes with a whole host of vibrant colours. Performing dramatic expressions and dynamic eye movements the formulas used are an integral part of the overall effect. Drawing upon this Louboutin looked to intense pigments and rich formulas that have a truely dramatic effect.
