Is Blue Ivy Carter Releasing A Beauty Line?

Clearly in Hollywood, it’s never too early to start thinking about your brand as 5-year-old Blue Ivy Carter has had her name legally trademarked for use in the cosmetics world. According to TMZ, Beyoncé’s company has filed the request with the United States Patent and Trademark Office database to secure her daughter’s name to be used for everything from make-up, fragrances and hair care.
Previously attempting to trademark her unique moniker shortly after she was born in 2012, a judge had ruled that Blue Ivy belonged to a wedding planning company in Boston so this time around papers were filed to include her last name Carter and a judge has accepted the patent. According to the legal document, the trademark will also allow Blue Ivy to use her name for ‘entertainment services‘ including live performances, motion pictures and fan clubs.
The name Blue Ivy reportedly came about after the A-list pair spotted some blue ivy leaves growing on a tree during their holiday in Croatia and decided that the name seemed to be the perfect mix of couple’s favourite colour blue, (Jay-Z has release three Blueprint albums over the years) and the Roman numeral IV – meaning four, which has a strong significance for the pair. Beyoncé was born on the 4th of September, Jay-Z on the 4th of December, they were married on the 4th April 2008 and Beyoncé even has an album called four.
Undoubtedly set to become a mini mogul in the making, Blue Ivy has also featured on both Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s previous albums with her gurgling vocals on Jay-Z’s track Glory making her the youngest person to ever appear on a billboard chart, a mere two days after she was born, and has made an appearance in international commercials for Ivy Park, Beyoncé’s athleticwear line.
