Here to perfect and upgrade the classic smokey eye to something a lot more special, the latest launch from make-up genius Pat McGrath is a 7-piece kit. ‘Dark Star 006’ matches the intense pigment and premium quality of the previous beauty launches from Pat McGrath Labs including her first solo foray, ‘Gold 001’ and the cult ‘Metalmorphosis 005’ collection. Described as a “tech-noir smokey eye kit for intergalactic glamour” the Global Beauty Creative Design Director of Procter & Gamble tapped Kim Kardashian West as the #McGrathMuse for this collection, announced via Instagram this week. It’s not the first time the pair have teamed up, McGrath initially teased her highlighter, ‘Skin Fetish 003’ via Kim’s app in March last year before it went live on her website.

Set to hubby Kanye West’s song “Street Lights,” the video features Kim admiring her reflection with Cher-esque poker straight locks and applying some of the multi-dimensional eyeshadow powder to her lids, creating a strong, almost holographic-looking look, (hence the “intergalactic glamour”). The genius behind some of the most iconic beauty launches in history including Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Giorgio Armani’s eponymous make-up lines, the British artist was awarded an OBE in 2014 for her services to the industry. 

Pat’s steps to the perfect smokey eye: 

Step 1: Create your smokey eye base by applying the 006 BLACK SMUDGE LINER onto lids 
Step 2: Blend out the 006 BLACK SMUDGE LINER before the product sets; blend until you achieve your desired shape 
Step 3: Apply DARK MATTER PIGMENT with 006 Blender brush 
Step 4: Apply MERCURY PIGMENT in inner corner of eye using a wet detailing brush 
Step 5: Press ASTRAL WHITE PIGMENT onto lids using your fingers
Step 6: Using a fluffy brush, apply MERCURY PIGMENT onto brow bone for a sparkly highlight 
Step 7: Apply mascara and false lashes 
Step 8: Intensify if needed by smoking out lower lash line by applying 006 BLACK SMUDGE LINER and blend with a small blending brush           Step 9: Finish by tapping the CYBER CLEAR GLOSS onto the lid with fingers
