Introducing the Smart Nail: a high-tech manicure where a tiny microchip is placed within your manicure, on top of your nails, containing personal data you can share at the single tap of your nail. This chip is secured and covered by a beautiful glitter coating, so it is not only inventive but also stylish and completely hidden in the most glamorous way.
The chip is completely safe and can’t be tracked – so you can go about your business at easy. The information stored within the chip can only be read through close proximity (a distance of one to two centimeters) so you shouldn’t be concerned about it falling into the wrong hands.
How exactly does Lanour Beauty Lounge’s Smart Nails work?
According to the beauty salon, the chip uses Near-Field Communication (NFC), a short-range wireless technology that makes your devices, like your iPhone, “smart.” The technology originated within the payment card industry, but is now evolving at a rapid pace and has been slowly infiltrating other industries worldwide…
As of right now, the capacity to store data in the chip is quite small, however, with technological advancements, the Lanour Beauty Lounge team are excited for what’s in store.
“I am fascinated by both beauty and technology, and love playing around with the realms of what’s possible,” says Lanour Beauty Lounge CEO Nour Nakarem. “I became inspired when I saw a business meeting taking place and the attendees were all sharing their data via their phone and I thought, what if we could do that through something as small as a fingernail – it’s always on us and transferrable with just the lift of a digit!”
