Pat McGrath Is Launching A Matte Lipstick Line
If you think these shades look familiar, it’s because you’ve seen them before
Make-up maven Pat McGrath is expanding her eponymous cosmetic line with the launch of nine new matte lippies, in various shades ranging from various nudes and vibrant reds. The fashion week backstage legend debuted Lust Matte Trance on Instagram, describing the line as ‘a lethally luxurious, instantly iconic new lipstick.’
‘I didn’t want a matte that felt like concrete’, McGrath told Allure, ‘This formula doesn’t mask the natural texture of your lips. It works beautifully on top of a lip pencil, swiped on straight from the tube, or — how I always like to apply lipstick — tapped on with fingers.’
Though news of this launch had been kept top secret, the recent CFDA Founder’s Award Winner has been secretly debuting some of the matte lippies at recent runway shows. By mixing two different shades and decanting them into clear jars, McGrath painted the lips of Prada’s 2018 resort models in pretty crimsons and orange-red colours. Naomi Campbell also wore the nude shade Omi, which was created and named after and based off a custom colour McGrath has mixed for the model for years, during the Fashion for Relief runway show in Cannes.
The collection has been curated into three colour groups: Skin Show (nudes), Colour Blitz (brights) and Vicious Venoms (darks).
