Pinterest Launches New Beauty Search Tool For Different Skin Tones
The visual platform’s latest move is in a bid to make the site more inclusive for its users
Nothing proves more challenging than navigating the Internet is search of make-up to suit your skin tone but thankfully, Pinterest has launched a new tool designed to combat any inevitable beauty woes.
More than 200 million people use the image-saving giant every month and add a total of eight billion beauty and hair ideas to their mood boards. So in a bid to become more inclusive, the social networking site has introduced a revolutionary search tool designed to enable users to find the most relevant results possible.
From now on, you can search Pinterest by choosing a specific skin tone. After teaming up with beauty software company Modiface, the visual platform identified 16 shades by taking note of hemoglobin which influences rosiness and melanin which determines how light or dark your skin is.
So, if you’re in need of checking out the best smudge-proof lipsticks on the high street or fancy feeding your unhealthy Glossier obsession with an entire board dedicated to the beauty empire then all you need to do is search the site as usual.
But when you click an item that tickles your fancy – be it a highlighter or a brow gel – Pinterest will then pull through a choice of skin tones enabling you to filter out anything that isn’t relevant to you.
For now, the digital company offers a total of four colour palettes but hopes to roll out more once they’ve received feedback from users.
And with 70 percent of people regularly looking to Pinterest on the hunt for hair and beauty inspiration, it’s about time the image-saving site it’s a step in the right direction.
