Is Blue Foundation The Next Big Beauty Trend?

From childrens’ birthday parties to festival make-up, our faces are about to look a lot more colourful this summer…

If you were on the same side of Beauty Tok as we were last week, then you were likely served a video of a creator smearing blue cream onto her cheeks.

@missdarcei’s TikTok video went viral as the American content creator experimented with an Azure shade of foundation by Sunset Makeup, a California-based beauty brand that boasts quite the range of colourful products.

Highly pigmented, cruelty-free, and vegan-friendly the Colorful Foundation range offers beauty fantastic a full range of rainbow shades — making it an ideal product for those looking to either colour correct their existing foundations at home or a gentler, skin-friendly alternative to face paint suitable that’s suitable for all skin types and shades.

But this isn’t the first time blue foundation has been on our radar…

What is blue foundation?

To address these questions, blue foundation is a mixing liquid initially created by L.A. Girl Cosmetics to be used as a colour corrector. This product is designed to be blended with your existing foundation, allowing you to adjust the tone of your shade – and has been around for years now. If your foundation appears too warm for your skin tone, or if you prefer a yellow undertone rather than a grey one, this product is perfect for you.

TikTok Beauty Guru, Rose Siard, shows her audience ways to use this foundation while pointing out certain advantages like its affordable price and easy availability. Certain users have taken this to another level by literally using certain blue foundations for prosthetic make-up looks.

Colour correctors have a similar purpose of neutralising skin before applying foundation or concealer. However, they may not be equally effective for everyone. Many make-up enthusiasts have reviewed the blue foundation on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, unanimously agreeing that it’s an excellent product for achieving the desired foundation shade.

We’re all familiar with the struggle of changing foundation shades with the seasons. In winter, we need a lighter shade for our fair complexions, while in the summer, we crave a darker shade for our sun-kissed looks. The constant back-and-forth of selecting the right shade could potentially be eliminated with the help of a blue foundation mixer. Moreover, for avid make-up users, this product could save us from purchasing multiple foundations to match our ever-changing skin tones. If a single product can save our bank balance and closet space, it’s undoubtedly worth a try.
