1. Start off the year with a hot new haircut!
Freshen your look for 2018 by upgrading your style to the famous lob or bob. It’s easy to maintain and can look edgy or traditional depending on the length. Personally I think the ideal length is right above your shoulders but feel free to go a little longer or shorter. Just imagine Bella Hadid or Lauren Conrad’s lush locks. 

2. Overhaul your beauty cupboard.
Out with the old and in with the new! Start the new year on the right foot and clean out your beauty products. It's time to get rid of all of those old lotions and potions. If your product has an expiration date, make sure to stick to it but since most products don’t, here’s the general rule of thumb. 

Mascaras and liquid eyeliners should be tossed out every 3 months to avoid eye infections. 
Concealers, sunscreen, liquid foundation, moisturizers, eye creams and face creams should be disposed of every 6 months to a year to avoid bacteria and irritation to the skin. 
Hair products like shampoos, conditioners and styling products should be thrown out after 1 to 2 years. The formulas are likely to break down the longer you have them.
Powder based cosmetics like eye shadows, blush and powder foundations as well as lipsticks and glosses can last 2 to 3 years.
Eyeliners and lip liners should be discarded between 3 to 5 years. Sharpen them before each use to make them last longer.

3. Always remove your make-up before you sleep 
Every year this is at the top of my resolution list and I’m pretty good about it but sometimes… Ladies, always try to remove your make-up before bed, no matter how tired you are. I even keep wipes next to my bed for those super late nights when I can’t make it to the bathroom for a proper cleanse. It’s better than nothing and gets rid of bacteria and grime that can clog pores and contribute to break outs.

4. Take time out for yourself
This year pamper yourself. Whether you treat yourself to a facial or body treatment or just take a long bath from time to time, it’s always important to decompress and relax. Besides if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of anyone else so don’t forget about “me”!

5. Take a tech detox 
Social interactions with friends and family are so important but if you’re anything like me, I’m sure you end up spending way too much time being distracted by your phone. Take time away from technology. Just try simple goals like putting your phone away at dinner or keeping your phone in the car during certain activities. I guarantee you will appreciate and enjoy moments with your loved ones much more. Time is the one of the things you can never recover so you definitely don’t want to waste it looking at a screen. 

6. Don’t forget to clean your make-up brushes!
Dirty brushes are usually caked with old make-up and become a breeding ground for bacteria, which can wreak havoc on your skin. Try to clean your make-up brushes weekly. It’s so easy and takes only a few minutes. You will surely notice and feel a difference or at least your skin will!

7. Exercise, exercise, exercise 
Make realistic resolutions when it comes to fitness. Instead of committing to a hard fitness routine set a reasonable, attainable goal and build on it. For example if you rarely work out, try walking for 20 minutes three times a week. After a month, try jogging during those workouts and then advance to running. Incorporating any exercise routine into your life makes you feel better, stronger and gives you so much extra energy.

8. Add a toner to your skincare routine
Most people overlook using a toner, but it’s a great product to add to any skin care routine. In the past toners were known to be stringent products that were irritating to skin, but now the formulas have changed dramatically. Not only are they more gentle but they also complete the cleansing of your skin by removing extra debris from the face while rebalancing your skin’s ph level. An added plus, they prep skin so your lotions and serums penetrate better and in turn are more effective. Find one that’s appropriate for your skin type and start using it daily, your skin will thank you!

9. Always use SPF! 
Although it’s wintertime, make sure to use SPF every single day. Not only will it help prevent lines and wrinkles but it will also reduce those annoying brown spots or sun spots from forming. Most importantly it will protect your skin from skin cancer. Trust me, it’s the one piece of advice all dermatologists agree upon so stock up!

10. Drink water 
I know you’ve heard this time and time again but try to stay hydrated throughout the day by drinking at least eight glasses of water. Not only is it important for your physical health but it also prevents your skin from looking sallow and dull. Drink up and glow, glow, glow!
